Kim Casperson is currently serving her first term on the Washington City Council, where she has focused on liberty, limited government, fiscal conservatism, and protecting the quality of life in Washington City. 

During her term in office, beginning in January 2022, Kim has worked with the Mayor and Council to prioritize public safety within the budget, keep taxes low, promote freedom, honor our veterans, and preserve our heritage. In addition, Kim has undertaken the following initiatives:

-wrote a resolution supporting individual health freedom and taking a firm stand against mask and vaccination mandates, during a time when many cities across the nation were enforcing and promoting mask and vaccine mandates, including in Utah.

-Voted for a resolution to champion the nation's motto, "In God We Trust," and display it in the council chambers where it can serve as a constant reminder. 

-Voted down tax increase proposals.

-Led the process in streamlining the council minutes for accessibility and transparency.

-Worked to reinstate public forums.

-Worked on government efficiency through policies and ordinances.

-Voted to repeal and replace the business licensing code, making it more business-friendly and cutting red tape.

-Voted to approve approximately 220 single-family detached homes with both SITLA and Cole West agreeing to substantially reduce profit margins, around half of the normal return, to provide an affordable housing product in Washington City. 

-Voted against different land use zoning changes request based on the general plan and zoning. One being, a vote against high density apartments in commercial zoning.

Kim Casperson is dedicated to ensuring that growth in Washington City is well-planned and effectively managed.  She supports the city in continuing to expand and improve roadways, water resources, infrastructure, and public safety to adequately support the city's growth.

Property Rights

Kim Casperson believes in and supports individuals' fundamental right to develop their property. At the local level of governance, it is important to recognize the impact on the community and consider the General Plan and zoning designations. An individual's desired use of their property should not encroach on the rights of their neighbors or lead to genuine public safety issues.

Taxes

Kim Casperson believes in fiscal responsibility and stands firm against tax increases. She advocates for keeping a low tax rate and has voted against proposals for tax increases.

About 

Faith, family, freedom are paramount to Kim Casperson. She believes that active involvement in our community and country is essential to upholding good principles, the Constitution, and keeping Washington City a beautiful and safe place to live.

Kim is married to Mike Casperson. They met at college, while both were on athletic scholarships: Mike for wrestling, and Kim for basketball. They have been married for 19 years and are blessed with four children. They love raising their family in Washington City and are dedicated to contributing to the betterment of this community.  Throughout their marriage, Kim and Mike have worked together as small business owners. Kim graduated from Dixie College to become a teacher, following in the footsteps of her parents. However, she chose to stay at home to raise her family, homeschool her children, partner with Mike in entrepreneurship, and be involved in the community. In addition to serving on the city council, Kim serves on several community boards. Mike is an engineer, entrepreneur, and the head wrestling coach at Pine View High School.
